Children under 15 constitute some 44 percent of Africa’s population, projecting a picture of a young continent and the broad brushes of a potentially dynamic and vigorous future. This is the positive side. But the sad fact also is that Africa’s children are the most disadvantaged in the world in terms of infant mortality rates, school enrolment, nutritional status and other social and economic indicators.

We are committed to bring about change in the situation of children and to help put Africa’s children on the political and public agenda

We are an independent, pan-African policy advocacy centre, based in Addis Ababa. Our work is rights-based, inspired by universal values and informed by global experiences and knowledge. It is anchored to four pillars: Knowledge; Advocacy; Policy development; and Capacity-building. Our aim is to provide a forum for dialogue, contribute to improved knowledge of the problems facing African children, identify policy options and help promote collective, Pan-African action and pressure to develop and implement effective pro-child policies and programmes.
